Y6 Homework – Term 6

This term, most of the homework will be asking the children to learn their speaking lines for the play and the songs too. This is to ensure that we are fully prepared for the performance and rehearsals can be around the acting and setting up of scenes rather than memorising lines. Every Thursday, the children will also be receiving some activities that will support them with their transition to Secondary School. This could be from a range of subjects e.g. Spanish, Maths, Geography, History etc… As well as this, the children still need to continue with their online homework: logging their reading 3 times on Boom Reader, Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars OR Maths Prodigy. If the children need any help with their homework, I am more than happy to do this if they bring it to me before the Thursday deadline.

Online Apps

As well as their paper homework, the children have access to an array of online tools to support their learning at home. The use of these is encouraged as they can enhance their learning in a fun and exciting way. The children should have all their log in details. If they cannot find them, they have access to a log in key ring in class and can use this to write them down to bring home.

Here is a reminder of the websites they can use:

Times Table Rockstars – https://ttrockstars.com/

Maths Prodigy – https://www.prodigygame.com/main-en/

EdShed (Spelling) - https://www.edshed.com/en-gb

Spelling Journal

Spellings are set every Thursday alongside the homework and the weekly spelling quiz will be the Thursday after. The children will write their spelling scores in their spelling journals and these will then be sent home for parents to look at. In Year 6, it is also important that the children can spell the words on the Statutory Spelling List for Years 5/6. The weekly spellings will be set every week on Spelling Shed so the children can access this as part of their homework to practise their spellings. The statutory word list will also be set on there every week too.
