Our Values and Ethos - The Wygate Way

The moment your child walks through the doors of Wygate Park Academy, they will become part of a supportive community which starts their journey of a lifetime. Every child is offered the best and in return is expected to give their best. We encourage the children in our care to believe that anything and everything is possible.

Along with high academic standards, the school places great emphasis on nurturing kind, honest and compassionate citizens. These qualities are reflected in “The Wygate Way” – a list of values that underpin the School’s curriculum and what will encourage children to take responsibility for their actions and to work collaboratively as part of a whole school community. Ultimately, The Wygate Way is used to encourage our children to develop the life skills to become confident, caring citizens, who can play a positive and active role in modern society. It helps our children to be in charge of the choices they make and supports  them to  understand that they are accountable for their own destiny.

R             Resilience – which helps our children overcome setbacks and challenges and builds the mindset around how to deal with these when they come, positively.​

E              Empathy - which helps pupils put themselves in the position of others and encourages them to show the kindness they would expect in that position.​

A             Ambition – helps children to raise their aspirations and shows them what can be achieved and to set their goals high.​

C             Challenge – we view challenge as an opportunity to try new things, push ourselves to achieve things we never thought possible & to always look forward.

H             Honesty – which helps our pupils develop integrity.

Our culture of “All different, Everyone Welcome” based on the No Outsiders approach, ensures our inclusive learning environment teaches all of our children to celebrate their differences, help and respect one another and promotes  tolerance and mutual respect-  ultimately developing a sense of ambition and self-esteem in every individual.

Working Together

Whilst independence is both encouraged and celebrated we pride ourselves on the cooperation and the collaboration between children, parents, staff and community.

Our aim is to work with parents and the community to instil a sense of confidence and self-belief in the children, so that when they leave us and take the next step in their education they will continue to reach their potential.

Through our inspired teaching and our range of support staff, we are all committed to providing a personalised education in which children make rapid progress in English and Maths. Every child has the potential to excel, whether it is an academic, artistic or sporting talent. Our inclusive curriculum is adapted to the individual needs and abilities of each child, providing appropriate levels of support to help children achieve their best.
